These terms govern your use of The Skin-ny website and newsletter. By visiting the site or subscribing, you agree to them. They sit alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.
The short version: the newsletter is free, the content is ours, it's information not medical advice, our delivery platform (beehiiv) has its own terms that apply to how your subscription is processed, and you can unsubscribe in one click at any time.
The Skin-ny is an independent skincare newsletter and website ("The Skin-ny", "we", "us") operated as a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at newsletter@givemetheskinny.com.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and us, and apply to your use of this website and your subscription to our email newsletter (together, the "Service").
Our newsletter is published and delivered using beehiiv, a newsletter platform operated by beehiiv Inc., 228 Park Avenue S #2329976, New York, NY 10003, USA. When you subscribe, your email address and subscription are processed through beehiiv's systems on our behalf.
Your use of any beehiiv-operated features — including signup forms, the email delivery infrastructure, preference and unsubscribe pages, and any beehiiv-hosted version of our content — is also subject to beehiiv's own Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Where you interact directly with beehiiv's platform, those documents apply between you and beehiiv; these Terms apply between you and us.
The newsletter is free. We may introduce paid offerings in future; if we do, separate terms will apply and you will be told before being charged anything.
The Service is intended for people aged 18 or over. This mirrors the age requirement of our delivery platform, beehiiv, whose services are not intended for anyone under 18. By subscribing, you confirm you are at least 18 years old.
The Skin-ny reports on skincare products, ingredients, science and industry news for general information only. Nothing we publish is medical, dermatological or other professional advice, and nothing we publish creates a practitioner–patient relationship. We report and attribute — we never diagnose. Always patch-test new products, read manufacturers' instructions, and take persistent skin concerns to a GP or dermatologist. Don't delay seeking professional advice because of something you read in the newsletter.
Our editorial independence policy is published on this site and printed in every issue. In summary: sponsorship is limited to clearly-marked slots; sponsors never see our copy or shape our coverage; and if a link earns us a commission, we say so at the point you click it. Where we include affiliate links, any purchase you make is a transaction between you and the relevant retailer, on their terms — we are not a party to it and are not responsible for the products sold.
Everything we publish — text, design, graphics, the name "The Skin-ny" and associated branding — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable licence to read, share links to, and forward issues of the newsletter in their original form.
You may not, without our prior written permission: republish our content commercially; scrape, harvest or systematically extract content or data from the Service; remove attribution; or use our content to train, fine-tune or ground machine-learning models. Quoting short excerpts with credit and a link is always fine.
You agree not to use the Service in any way that breaks the law, infringes anyone's rights, introduces malicious code, attempts to gain unauthorised access to any systems (ours or beehiiv's), or interferes with the operation of the Service. If you reply to an issue or submit anything to us (a tip, a question), you confirm you have the right to send it and you grant us permission to use it in connection with the newsletter — we'll credit you where we can, or keep you anonymous if you ask.
The newsletter and website link out to third-party websites — retailers, journals, regulators, news sources and others. Those sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices. Following a link is at your own discretion, and any dealings you have with a third party are between you and them.
We aim to publish every Thursday, but we provide the Service "as is" and "as available" and do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Because delivery depends on beehiiv and on your email provider, we cannot guarantee that every issue will reach every inbox.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales.
Subject to that: the Service is provided free of charge for general information, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all implied warranties and will not be liable to you for any loss or damage — including indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, your reliance on anything we publish, or your purchase of any product we cover or link to.
You can unsubscribe at any time, in one click, using the link in the footer of every issue — no questions asked. What happens to your data after you unsubscribe is set out in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or stop sending the newsletter to any address at our discretion, for example where delivery repeatedly fails or where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows the current version. For significant changes we will flag the update in the newsletter. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure by us to enforce any part of these Terms is not a waiver of it. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
These Terms, and any dispute arising from them or from the Service, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — although if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings where you live. Note that beehiiv's own Terms of Use, which govern your direct interactions with their platform, are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
